The Patrol Division Lieutenant oversees the Animal Control Division to which one deputy is assigned. The Animal Control Deputy enforces all County resolutions and State statutes of Animal Control and Vicious Dog Laws (PDF). These duties include the capture, impound, and care of stray cats and dogs.
Finney County maintains the Animal Shelter, along with Garden City, where impounded animals are cared for until they are claimed by the owner, adopted, or humanely disposed of. Animal control officers use PetWhere software to track impounded animals, owners, adoptees, etc.
If you are interested in adopting an animal you may stop at the Shelter during our office hours, contact us at (620) 272-3658, or email the Animal Control Deputy.
