The Finney County Jail was originally built in 1982, and then expanded in 2000 with additions to the north and south side of the original building.
The jail's capacity went from 50 beds to 220 beds and is one of the larger jails in the state of Kansas. The jail is considered a "combination jail" which employs two styles of prisoner housing: direct supervision and linear.
The Jail Division is comprised of an Administrator, Assistant Administrator, Lieutenant, four Sergeants, eight Corporals, twenty two Jail Deputies, Food Service Manager, and five Food Service Assistants.
