Paving operations on the new US-50/400 four-lane highway from Garden City to Holcomb continue to move west and will now require closing VFW Road north of US-50 beginning Saturday (April 2) afternoon through Tuesday (April 5), weather permitting.
Third Street remains closed north of the four-lane construction and should reopen on Tuesday. Construction crews plan to close Anderson Road north of US-50 once VFW Road is reopened.
These road closures are temporary to allow workers to pave the new westbound lanes for the four-lane highway. Depending on weather, each closure should last only a few days.
The Kansas Department of Transportation reminds drivers to pay attention to work zone signs, slow down, obey the posted speed limits and drive carefully through construction zones.
If you have questions about this four-lane highway project, please contact Kirk Hutchinson, KDOT Southwest Public Affairs Manager, at 620-260-6397, or Craig Schlott, Construction Engineer, at 620-276-3241.
