The boxing club was started twenty years ago, due to too many kids getting in trouble for fighting. At the time it was called the Police Athletic League Boxing Club (PAL Boxing) and this was changed about 15 years ago. Some of the kids suggested Bad Boyz in reference to song that they sing on the movie, COPS. Over 5000 kids have completed the program in the past 20 plus years.
The program has coached several national champions, a couple of world champions but most important is that it has kept a lot of the kids off the streets. Some graduating kids have gone on to obtain their college degrees, some are business owners and moved on with their lives. Bad Boyz Boxing Club is a not-for- profit organization and all money raised goes back into the program to purchase equipment or purchase items that some of our kids cannot afford. A lot of the funding is through private donations or through the many fundraisers done throughout the year. The program teaches kids the fundamentals of boxing but also teaches them the importance of their education. Bad Boyz Boxing Club does not go to events where kids have to miss school. Their grades and attendance in school are verified.
All of the coaches must have a background check done on them and they must be certified through USA boxing which is our sanctioning body. Everything the boxing club does must be approved through USA Boxing. All of the shows hosted must be Sanctioned through USA boxing. Every coach and official that is used must have must attended clinics to be certified or they can't coach or officiate.
The program instills in the kids the importance of God, family and education, their Motto is "Filling Playgrounds Not Prisons"
