[ARCHIVED] GCCC Endowment Association Scholarship Auction

"Living On Island Time" will be the theme when more than 100 volunteers stage the 37th Annual Garden City Community College Endowment Association Scholarship Auction, on Friday, April 10 at the Finney County Exhibition Building. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., the doors will open at 6 p.m., and admission requires an advanced purchase wristband.

“As one of the largest charitable and social events in Finney County, I know that many people are looking forward to this year’s event and they won’t be disappointed,” said Jeremy Gigot, GCCC Endowment Association Executive Director. “We always like to have a theme that creates a lot of fun even before people step foot inside the auction venue and this year it’s "Living on Island Time" a tropical island theme that I hope encourages guests to dress in Hawaiian shirts, flip flops and cut off shorts.”

Admission will again be by wristband and the cost will be $25 per person. Wristbands won’t be sold at the door and admission must be purchased in advance. The doors will open to wristband wearers at 6 p.m. the evening of the sale, with the silent auction beginning at 6:30 p.m., and the big item main event live auction, conducted by Scott Auction of Garden City, getting underway at 7:30 p.m.

The admission wristbands are now on sale at the Endowment Association office in the GCCC Student and Community Services Center. Association board members and key local businesses also have tickets available, including:
Burtis Motors, 601 West Kansas
Keller Leopold Insurance, 302 Fleming
Kinney Glass, 415 N. Eighth
Bling, 1680 Larue Road (Schulman Crossing)
Skeeter’s Body Shop, 3104 W. Jones
Wharton's, 906 North 10 Street.

The association is also conducting a donation drawing for a race red 2015 Ford Mustang from Burtis Motors. Tickets for the drawing will be available at the same locations as the wristbands for a suggested donation of $50. The winner’s name will be drawn at the conclusion of the auction. One need not be present to win.
