Right of Way Technician – Public Works

This is a general labor position with responsibility for installing permanent and temporary construction signage to assure traffic safety on County roads.  This position is under the direct supervision of the Right of Way Supervisor.

Covid-19 Response CNA (Full-Time & Part-Time)– Health Department

This position is responsible for contact tracing, case investigation and testing related to the health department’s response to the prevalence and spread of Covid-19 in Finney County and Southwest Kansas. This process is a core disease control measure. This position will also perform Covid-19 testing of patients to help identify those who need to be isolated or quarantined. This position is full-time, Monday – Friday, with occasional work after hours and on weekends to support program activities. This position is grant funded for a minimum of one year. Continuation of the position is dependent on sustained grant funding.  This position is under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse. 

Custodial Worker – Building Maintenance

This is a custodial job responsible for general cleaning of public buildings. The position is under the general supervision of the Building Maintenance Director and Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Registered Nurse – Health Department

This position is responsible for promoting public health through activities/services related to: health promotion and education, epidemiological surveillance and disease prevention, immunization, and lab testing/diagnostic and curative care.  The position is under the general supervision of the Charge Nurse.

Maintenance Tech I – Fairgrounds

The Building Maintenance Technician I is a semi-skilled position. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks, maintenance, and repair of county facilities and equipment. This position is under the direct supervision of the Building Maintenance Director.

Noxious Weed Technician I - Noxious Weed

This position is primarily responsible for application of herbicides and other chemicals to control noxious weeds, nuisance plants and animals. This position is additionally responsible for the trimming and removing of trees within the county rights of way. This position is under the direct supervision of the Noxious Weed Director.

Juvenile Intake and Assessment Officer - Youth Services

This position shall complete intake and screening procedures on youth referred by law enforcement, parents, and social service agencies. Work will be performed independently within the established policies and procedures and will be reviewed by supervisor for accuracy and appropriateness. This program is 24 hours a day. Intake workers will be required to take calls on a rotating on-call basis and will be required to respond to the law enforcement agency in which the youth is being held. Written reports will be typed and completed by the officer. Follow up work may include arranging the release of youth, coordinating court appearances with the county attorney’s office and law enforcement. This position is under the director supervision of the Youth Services Supervisor.

Diesel Mechanic – Public Works

This is a mechanic position responsible for maintenance and repair of light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.  The position is responsible for all phases of mechanical work and is under the general supervision of the Shop Supervisor.

Building Maintenance Technician II – Building and Grounds

The Building Maintenance Technician II is a skilled position. This position performs a variety of skilled tasks, maintenance, and repair of county facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position is under the direct supervision of the Building Maintenance Director.

Juvenile Detention Officer – Juvenile Detention Center

This position provides care and supervision for the youth residents of the JDC and shelter in a secure setting. This position is under the general supervision of the Detention Supervisor or in the absence of, Detention Officer Acting Supervisor.

Administrative Assistant – Public Works

This position serves as Administrative Assistant for Public Works.   In addition to typing, filing, and scheduling, performs duties such as financial record keeping and reconciliation, ordering supplies, coordinating mailings, and working on special projects. Provides exceptional customer service to external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload, and to recommend changes in office practices or procedures.  This position is under the general supervision of the Business Manager.

Procurement & Acquisition Specialist – Public Works

This position is responsible planning, organizing and coordinating the Public Works operational parts and supply chain.  Locates key suppliers, quality parts and negotiates purchasing agreements and makes sure that materials and products meet the county’s specifications.

Assistant County Attorney – County Attorney

This position acts as a Prosecuting Attorney responsible for legal matters related to criminal offenses, traffic offenses, juvenile offenders care and treatment proceedings, and appeals.  The Assistant County Attorney works with defendants, victims, witnesses and Defense Attorneys pursuant to Kansas law. This position is under the general direction of the County Attorney.

Light Vehicle Mechanic – Public Works

This is a mechanic position responsible for maintenance and repair of light to medium vehicles and equipment. This position is also responsible for shop and shop equipment upkeep, maintenance and repair. 

Event Maintenance Worker - Fairgrounds

This is a public contact, customer service, maintenance, grounds, and custodial service position. Employees in this position are responsible for activities that are involved in the smooth running of a county fairground. They also perform building, equipment, and grounds maintenance and custodial duties to keep the fairgrounds properly cleaned and maintained. This position is under the general supervision of the Building Maintenance Director.    

Prevention Officer – Youth Services

This position involves the supervision and case management of juveniles according to state standards, state statutes, or agency policy. This position is under direct supervision of the Community Corrections Director.  This position is under of the guidance of SB367 for youth participating in immediate intervention programs.

Jail Deputy – Sheriff’s Office

This position is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of prisoners in a Direct Supervision and Linear style jail setting. This position is under the general supervision of a Jail Sergeant.

EMS Reserve Squad (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic) – EMS

This is an emergency response reserve position, no benefits, with the general responsibility to provide emergency care in pre-hospital settings, provide care and transport for sick and injured patients, and promote education and awareness of emergency care procedures.   This technician is under the supervision of the shift supervisor and the EMS Director.

GIS Technician – Geographic Information Systems

This position is responsible for responding to request for information from internal and external users. This position creates and maintains the geographic information system (GIS) database and consults with the Finney County and county staff to operate the GIS functions. This position is responsible for installations and troubleshoot of GIS software. This position is under the direct supervision of the GIS Coordinator.  

Equipment Operator – Public Works

This is a general road and bridge construction and maintenance position which operates light trucks (non-CDL), road construction and maintenance equipment.  The position works on road construction and or maintenance projects and assists in processing and delivery of road materials. The position requires the operation of non-CDL trucks and various types of NON-CDL trucks, specialized and heavy-duty construction equipment and is under the supervision of the Team Leader and Road Maintenance Supervisor.

Paramedic – EMS

This is an emergency response position with the general responsibility to provide emergency care in pre-hospital settings, provide care and transport for sick and injured patients, and promote education and awareness of emergency care procedures.   The Paramedic is under the supervision of the shift supervisor and the EMS Director.

AEMT – EMS

This is an emergency response position with the general responsibility to provide emergency care in pre-hospital settings, provide care and transport for sick and injured patients, and promote education and awareness of emergency care procedures. This technician is under the supervision of the shift supervisor, Assistant EMS Director and EMS Director.

EMT – EMS

This is an emergency response position with the general responsibility to provide emergency care in pre-hospital settings, provide care and transport for sick and injured patients, and promote education and awareness of emergency care procedures. This technician is under the supervision of the Paramedic Shift Supervisor and/or Assistant EMS Director and EMS Director.

Victim Advocate & Liaison – County Attorney

This position provides support and professional assistance to crime victims and their families in dealing with their rights and responsibilities within the legal process as well as community resources.  Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. The position also works with department attorneys to coordinate witness participation in legal proceedings. The position is under the supervision of the County Attorney.

Legal Assistant – County Attorney

Under direction of the Legal Administrative Assistant, performs complex secretarial work of a legal nature.  Work requires the exercise of a high degree of initiative, independent judgment and discretion. Analysis is required for most assignments.   Procedures, precedents, or model legal documents are available for most work assignments, but frequently require some interpretation or modification requiring the exercise of sound judgment.   Must possess the ability to perform legal research in accordance with preliminary instructions as to methods of approach, source material available, and policy and precedent of the office. Performs related work as required.
